It is my purpose to guide others toward their innate capacity for growth and wholeness. Asking for help in navigating life struggles is both a vulnerable and courageous step in your own self-care. Through the secure base of the therapeutic partnership, I can assist you in discovering how to live with a greater sense of calmness, presence, confidence, meaning and connection in daily life.
My therapeutic mindful approach is informed by advanced training and experience in MBSR (Mindfulness Bases Stress Reduction), yoga therapy, meditation and somatic therapy, and health and life coaching. I am passionate about self-care and enjoy collaborating with other healing professionals including acupuncturists, nutritionist bodyworkers and alternative medicine practitioners to further support you on your healing journey.
I began exploring the mind body connection through my own yoga practice over 20 years ago as a young adult. For the first time in my life, I had experienced the ability to soothe my nervous system, calm myself with breath, and begin to feel what my body actually needed. Through my studies in counselling, mindfulness and yoga combined with my own personal growth through my self practice, I continued to feel drawn towards holistic therapy.
My continuous education journey focuses on mind-body approaches to integrate both functional and conventional medicine in order to specialize my treatment for specific medical conditions.
Over the past decade, I’ve provided therapeutic services in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health centers, assisted living, and hospitals. Within these settings, I’ve created and facilitated mindfulness and trauma-informed programming to increase community access to wellness practices including elderly yoga, therapeutic yoga groups, mindfulness classes and training, and self-care for health care providers.
At present I work with my private clientele on achieving their personal health goals. I am also the CEO and founder of Mukti Wellness Center in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, and Yoga for Wellness Africa, an East African NGO through which we are able to provide training programs to people from all walks of life. These resources allow me to carry out my vision of sharing and making wellness and holistic healing available to the larger populace.
